CD REVIEW: Jay Z - American Gangster

By The Booze News

If there’s someone in the rap game today that almost every artist wants to emulate, it has to be Jay-Z. From street hustler to president and CEO of Def Jam, Jay-Z continues to push further and aim higher; American Gangster is no different.

The album rips all the way through, but hits its apex on track ten, “Ignorant Shit.” Here Jay vents his frustration with the current perception of rap, going as far as to ask “Are you sayin’ what I’m spittin is worse than these celebutantes showin’ they kitten, you kiddin?”
The rest of the CD is shaped by Jay-Z’s ability to bend words around beats while portraying his rise to greatness, showing the listener his growth from kid on the rap scene to man running the entire rap show.
