CD REVIEW: The Hives - The Black and White Album

By The Booze News

Ah, black and white. Put together they convey the idea of an understated elegance, a timelessness, because black and white make everything look good. The Black and White Album does just that, it makes rock look classy, the easy way.

The Hives kick off their fourth full-length album with the first single, Tick Tick Boom. The song, like the rest of the CD, rips along as rock at its most pure, simple, catchy lyrics surrounded by rhythmic guitar riffs and driving drums.

That’s where this new album really shines. It doesn’t feel over-produced or over thought, it feels real, these guys aren’t here to impress you with elaborate composition, they just want to play some rock.

Download:
Tick Tick Boom, Well All Right, Bigger Hole To Fill

Rock your parents would have listened to if they weren’t busy taking acid.
Listen to it when:
You are going to a classy old-school dinner party.
