Rabbit Habits, the third studio release from Philadelphia natives Man Man, is damn near impossible to describe. You can’t mention the band without bringing up the awesome piano, but then what about the obtuse lyrics? And their manic delivery? God, there’s so much to say, and so few words. Uh…ok…here we go, we’re gonna try real hard this time.
Rabbit Habits doesn’t really sound like anything you’ve ever heard before, but it just feels like good music. Everything about Man Man is wildly creative, and by the time a song is over, the listener isn’t sure what exactly they experienced, only that it was pretty neat. Sure, the lyrics may not make much sense, but they aren’t bad, so, who cares? Sure, even if the lyrics did make sense, you probably wouldn’t be able to understand them, but big deal. It’s just exciting music.
These days it’s easy to find music that doesn’t fit into any single genre, but Man Man totally blows all of that out of the water. They refuse to be a part of a genre, and while it’s odd (and not so good) at times, it’s nice to listen to something once in a while that is just weird.
