CD Review: Natasha Bedingfield - Pocketful of Sunshine

By The Booze News

The first thing a new listener notices when they put on Natasha Bedingfield’s new album, Pocketful Of Sunshine, is that the music is so damn sweet, it makes your teeth hurt. The album is pop at its finest, full of catchy hooks over bubbly melodies, but a careful listener eventually hears something more.

That’s right; Bedingfield might actually mean what she is saying. While her message may not be overly important, it’s nice to listen to someone who genuinely cares about her own subject matter.

Still, the CD has its fair share of flaws. Without a doubt, the biggest mistake the album makes is in its repetition. Too often the songs, while short, mash together to sound like a 12-minute epic about a scorned girl, and really Natasha, you’re cute and you can sing, what’s there to be so sad about?
